My plumber told me that my oil burner problems are likely being caused
by sludge in the bottom of my buried oil tank. Can the sludge be removed
safely or do I really need a new tank?
I suggest that you take this opportunity to replace your old oil tank
with a new one that is either installed in your basement or outdoors above
the ground. An old buried oil tank is a problem waiting to happen. Oil
leaking from your tank can contaminate a small amount of nearby soil or
it can cause an environmental nightmare by polluting the groundwater.
Cleanups from these issues can run into thousands of dollars.
